Theme:  Going Deep

Our Leadership retreat will focus on the Psalms this year. Your first reaction may be to think that the Psalms are just gentle collections of words that you turn to when you need calmed or soothed. You know…still waters, green pastures, and straight paths. Especially some of you who have a little bit more scriptural background and who come looking for something new. You may even be tempted to think of the Psalms as devotional fluff…..something only to comfort grandma, to be read in the nursing home or at the funeral home. And though the Psalms are great for that purpose they are much deeper than most Christians realise.

Psalm 36:6 “Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like a great deep.”
Psalm 64:6b “For the inward thought and the heart of a man are deep.”
Psalm 107:24 “They have seen the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep.”
During this retreat we will be viewing the Psalms through a fresh lens. We will consider the depth of the Psalms from a new perspective.

Including but not limited to…
Leadership from the Psalms. (The Psalms are words of powerful leaders and words of the All powerful Leader)
Praying the Psalms. (The leaders prayer life)
Apologetics in the Psalms. (The Leaders toolbox)
Imprecatory Psalms (The Leaders enemies)
Jesus in the Psalms (The Leaders leader)

Here are a few collected quotes on the Psalms

* The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia says, “If Christians were permitted to retain only one book in the Old Testament they would almost certainly choose Psalms.”

* Another writer says, “No other book in the Bible more truly exalts God and His word.”

* “All elements of the biblical system find their expression in the Psalms.”

* “In range and scope, it is the most comprehensive.”

* “Psalms is an epitome of the Bible.”

* “This is the book to which the soul naturally turns for its devotional needs.”

Lets delve deeply together into this rich trove of Gods revelation
